You're probably not going to find too many bars or restaurants to hang out before the game so tailgating may be the best way to satisfy that burger and beer fix before kickoff.
Is FedEx Field metro accessible?
The stadium can be Metro accessible if you're willing to walk about a mile from the station to the stadium. It's doable however, it doesn't make for much of a tailgate. FedEx Field allows tailgating in all parking areas except the Platinum and Platinum Reserved lots.

Parking for events other than Redskins games
Expect a skeleton crew to be working the parking lots for events other than Redskins games. This means less security roaming the parking lots and no one directing traffic after the event is over – which equates to long traffic lines getting out of the stadium. For fans who need more than one parking space for their tailgate, stadium policy says those folks will be directed to the back of the parking lot. For the most part, fans do a pretty good job of policing each other and rarely will you have to see security arrive to enforce the tailgating rules.
What time do the gates open?
Parking lots usually open four hours prior to kickoff. However, make sure to check with the stadium prior to each game as tailgaters may be allowed to enter earlier - especially for college football games and special events.
Where should I park?
Typically, for events other than Redskins games there is no reserved parking and you will be able to park anywhere. It sounds great until you scratch the surface and realize that parking is already included in your ticket price – so in reality every single person is paying for parking regardless if they drive or not.
Are there portable restrooms?
Portable restrooms are located throughout the stadium parking lots but you can expect long lines to form once the tailgating crowd arrives. There are plenty of trash dumpsters located in the parking lot so it's pretty easy to clean up after yourself.
